     WALTER J. ELLIS, POSTAL CLERK 18 YEARS, DIED
     Walter J Ellis, 55. a clerk in the Belle Plaine post office the past 18 years, died Saturday at Queen of Peace Hospital in New Prague after a two-month illness with cancer.
     Mr. Ellis was born May 26, 1923 in Chicago, a son of Walter and Helen Weibeler Ellis
     He graduated From Belle Plaine High School in 1941 and served in the armed forces from1943 to 1946. He was a member of the Belle Plaine Veterans of Foreign Wars.
     Surviving are his father, Walter T. Ellis of Chicago and a sister, Anna Weiers of Arcadia, California.
     Funeral services were held Monday at Our Lady of the Prairie church with Father Hugolinus officiating. Burial was in Sts. Peter and Paul's cemetery.
     Pallbearers were Louis, Keith and Bradley Heitkamp, Otto Schmidt, Arthur Johnson and Joseph Blaha.


     He graduated from Belle Plaine High School with a High School diploma at Belle Plaine, Scott County, Minnesota, USA, in June 1941. He Walter served in the US Navy in the Pacific during World War II. in 1942. Walter was employed as a postal clerk for the U.S. Postal Service at Belle Plaine, Scott County, Minnesota, USA, circa 1960.
