Albert Daniel Fisher, 84, Scranton, ND died unexpectedly Saturday morning, March 1, 2008 at West River Health Services hospital in Hettinger, ND following minor surgery. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, March 5th at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Scranton at 10:00 a.m. with burial to follow mass at the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Rosary/wake service will be held Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Father Chad Gion will celebrate the Mass.

Albert was born December 3, 1923 in Dunn County, ND near Dickinson to Anton and Agnes (Pavlicek) Fisher. He was the youngest of eight children. The family relocated and homesteaded South of Gascoyne, ND in the late 1920's. Albert farmed the same family homestead until his retirement in 1991.

Albert attended elementary school in Haley south of Scranton and two years of high school in Gascoyne. It was three miles to school and the Fisher siblings went on a one-horse buggy. When he was the only one still going to school, he rode his horse every day.

Albert proudly served his country when he was inducted into the U.S. army on November 16, 1944 and he was honorably discharged on May 17, 1945 when he had to return home to help on the family farm following the death of his brother, George, while serving his country. He was a longtime member of the American Legion in Scranton.

Albert married Carleen M. Olson on August 31, 1946 at the Olson family home near Bowman, ND. They owned and operated the Corner Bar in Gascoyne and farmed south of Gascoyne. They continued to live on the farm until moving into Scranton in 1967. They then owned and operated Pugy's Pub and Lucky 4 Lanes from 1967 to 1975, and continued to farm south of Gascoyne. After 1975 they spent the summers living on the farm and the winters living in Scranton until their retirement from farming in 1992. Albert continued to visit the farm almost daily to garden in the summer, feed the cats, and let his precious friend Sheba go for a run down the road while he traveled behind her until she was ready to ride again.

Albert was a very hard worker all his life. He was a sheep herder and shearer. He worked in the underground coal mine in Scranton and ran a caterpillar for the Gascoyne Mine uncovering coal; he also ran a hotel/restaurant in Scranton. He worked at the Scranton Grain Elevator during the winter months after he took over the family farm. Some of his most enjoyable memories were owning and operating the Corner Bar in Gascoyne and Pugy's Pub in Scranton because he enjoyed being around people.

He and his wife, Carleen, were very social and were amazing dancers. Albert was very involved in community service activities in Scranton through the years and he also served on the Scranton town board for many years.

Most of his life, Albert was an avid fisherman. He enjoyed hunting and taking hunters out to his farm for pheasant and deer hunting. He also enjoyed traveling, especially to see his children, grand children and other relatives and friends. He loved to garden and gave away most of what he grew and he ate or canned the rest. When Carleen got ill and with her passing in 2004, his family and friends found out that he was an excellent cook and baker. You could always get a spirited conversation about his team, the Minnesota Twins, who should have hired him to coach them years ago.

Albert's favorite times were when his family was at home. He was a wonderful dad and grandpa and he took great pride in the many ways he could spoil his grandchildren. The other joy of his life was his constant companion, his little dog, Sheba.

Albert was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Carleen, one son, Craig Fisher, one infant daughter, two siblings who died in infancy, Edward and Sophie, one sister, Lillian Symanowski, and three brothers, George, Tony, and Charlie.

He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Lori and Rex Caldwell, Spearfish, SD; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Rodney and Rhonda Fisher, Highlands Ranch, CO, Rocky and Valerie Fisher, Draper, UT, and Monte Fisher, Lewiston, TX; six granddaughters, Chantel (Pat) White, Charisa (Eric) Smaldone, Bailey and Kenzie Caldwell, and Casey and Carly Fisher, three great-grandsons, Hunter, Cooper, and Grady White, one great-granddaughter, Addison Smaldone, one sister, Agnes Kralicek, Glen Ullin, one sister-in-law, Judy Fisher, Dickinson, and many nieces and nephews who were all very special to him and who thought the world of their Uncle Albert.

Pallbearers are Cy Fulton, Sherman Oakland, Allen Eldridge, Gary Symanowski, Pat White, Jim Fisher, Lannie Ness, and Alan Anderson. Honorary pallbearers are all of his friends and family and his best friend, Sheba. Special music will be provided by Lenny Fischer. Krebsbach Funeral Service of Bowman is in charge of the arrangements.

Charlie passed away Wednesday, September 2, 2009 at St. Benedict’s Health Center, Dickinson, ND.

Charles Anton Fisher was born October 4, 1915 in Stark County, ND to Lyle and Anna (Dvorak) Fisher. He grew up on the family farm and attended Versippe School. After school he continued to work on the farm. The family moved to the farm in Dunn County. On October 27, 1936 Charlie and Myra Beatrice (Kubik) were married in Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in New Hradec, ND. He worked for WPA for a short period of time. Charlie worked side by side with his wife and built their farm as they made their living and raised their family on the farm. The couple continued to live on the farm until they retired in 1976 and moved to Dickinson. Charlie continued to help on the farm and enjoyed his trips there, especially during the harvest season, as this was his favorite time of year. After Myra passed away Charlie moved to Pioneer Haven and eventually to St. Benedict’s Health Center. Charlie always provided for his family and made sure they never went without. He often spoke of the difficult times during the Depression years. Charlie loved music, reading, dancing, playing cards and going to rummage sales. In his earlier years, he enjoyed riding horse, as he moved the cows from pasture to pasture. He was extremely proud of his children and grandchildren and enjoyed visiting and spending time with family and friends. Charlie had a strong belief in the Lord and always did what was right and honest. He was a member of Eagles Club, Knights of Columbus, Farmers Union, and St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church.

Charlie is survived by his daughters, Eileen Ereth, Beverly Larson and Diane Wood; son, Charles (Carma) Fisher; grandchildren, Michelle (Brad) Dwyer, Wade (Rayanna) Larson, Melissa Rapp, Trisha Morrell, Kara (Chris) Bekooy and Megan Fisher; six great grandchildren and a sister, Emma Kadrmas.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Myra; both parents; brother, Clarence Fisher; sisters, Leona Pavlicek and Claudia Thomas; sons-in-law; Lloyd Ereth, Andy Larson and Grant Wood.

Family suggests memorials be made to St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church and St. Benedict’s Health Care Center, Dickinson, ND.
Burial5 September 2009He was buried on 5 September 2009 at Saint Wenceslaus Cemetery in Dickinson, Stark, North Dakota, United States.3

DICKINSON — Emma Kadrmas, 92, Dickinson, passed away Jan. 5, 2010, at St. Benedict's Health Center, Dickinson. Funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. MST Monday, Jan. 11, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Dickinson, with the Rev. Todd Kreitinger celebrating. Burial will be held at a later date in St. Wenceslaus Cemetery, Dickinson.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. MST today at Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson, and continue from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. MST Sunday at Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson, with a rosary and vigil service at 5 p.m. with Deacon Gene Morman officiating.

Emma Elizabeth Fisher was born April 11, 1917, the daughter of Anna (Dvorak) and Lyle Fisher. Emma attended country school at Versippi in Stark County and Iota District School in Dunn County. In her younger years, she enjoyed riding horses, watching the coyotes running from one hill to another while bringing in the dairy cows, and especially working outside with her father and brother rather than working inside. Emma and Walter Kadrmas were married Oct. 9, 1945, in Dickinson. Together, they farmed and raised their children in Dunn County. They left the farm and moved to Dickinson and Emma decided to get her G.E.D. She then worked for 15 years with Home Health. She especially enjoyed taking care of the home patients and earning their friendship. Emma was always excited to have the grandchildren visit the farm and learn everything there was to know about raising poultry and farm animals. She and her grandchildren had fun sharing times together, enjoying homemade breads and checking the garden for ripe produce. Her greatest joy was reminiscing with the grandchildren about the differences between the farm life and the city life. She enjoyed playing bridge and pinochle and was very active in various card clubs. She also loved old time music and dancing.

She was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Hospital Auxiliary and St. Ann's Alter Society.

Emma is survived by her daughters, Lori (William) Faiman, Bismarck, and Connie (James) Fischer, Olympia, Wash; her daughter-in-law, Bobbie Kadrmas, Dickinson; her grandchildren, Roque (Karen) Kadrmas, Mark (Gina) Kadrmas and Kent Kadrmas, Brad (Jane) Faiman, Jamie (Kevin) Anhalt, Scott (Lori) Faiman, Ruth (Paul) Lacher, Jonathon (Shana) Fischer and Sarah (Jeff) Pearson; her great-grandchildren, Jill (Troy) Lillehoff, Holly Kadrmas, Jesse Kadrmas, Brianna Kadrmas, Bradley (Nikki) Faiman, Carley Faiman, Steven Anhalt, Michael Anhalt, Christoper Faiman, Kayla Faiman, Trevor Lacher, Alexanna Fischer, Kaylynn Fischer and Cole Pearson; one great-great-grandchild, Finn Edward Lillehoff; and a brother-in-law, George Thomas.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Walter; her son, Marvin; her brothers, Clarence and Charles Fisher; her sisters, Leona Pavlicek and Claudia Thomas.

Obituary19 December 2013Obituary of Eugene William Fisher

Eugene William of Tempe, Arizona, died December 17, 2013 from cancer at the age of 84.

Gene was born December 26, 1928 in Dickinson, North Dakota to Anton and Albina Fisher. He graduated from Versippi High School. Gene proudly served our country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict from 1951-1953. He was married to Sheila Johnston on December 26, 1968.

Gene Fisher was a celebrity among contractors. There are few contractors who do not know Gene's name and reputation. For another thing, he had a storybook tale to tell: Gene started in the construction business at age 10 buying Fisher Sand & Gravel's first trucks. Gene continued his career with his love of gravel. He mined in over 850 gravel pits throughout his life time. Gene and Sheila went on to build several businesses in North Dakota. Gene's ability to engineer equipment surpassed most formally educated engineers, which was remarkable given his high school education. His patented air separator invention is currently sold in seven different countries all over the world. Gene was an active member of the Elks Lodge 1137 and served as Exalted Ruler from 1978 - 1979.

Gene is survived by his wife, Sheila, and four children: David Fisher of Fargo, ND; Greg and Suzanne Medley of Tempe, AZ; Thomas and Candice Fisher of Tempe, AZ; Mike and Christina Fisher of Dickinson, N D.
