Agnes B. Kubik, 83, a longtime resident of Dunn County died Tuesday evening, Jan. 13, 2009 at the Matlock Place Health and Rehabilitation Center in Arlington, Texas. A Mass of Christian Burial for Agnes will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 19, at St. Marys Catholic Church, Richardton with Fr. Boniface Muggli, OSB as the celebrant and Fr. Jerry Ruelle, OSB as con-celebrant. Interment will take place at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan. Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. Sunday at Ladbury Funeral Service with a rosary at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.

Agnes was born on August 6, 1925 to parents John and Emelia (Boespflug) Steckler. She married George Kubik on Nov. 22, 1949, and soon after moved to a farm & ranch near Manning. They were married for 59 years, and spent most of those hard working years building a farm operation and raising a family. Agnes is survived by her loving husband and partner George, and younger sister, Charlotte Sadowsky. Also privileged to share in her life are five children; Rosalind Kubik, Russ (Ione) Kubik, Kurt (Gail) Kubik, Klay (Susan) Kubik, and Mike (Darla) Kubik. She was blessed with 13 grandchildren; Aaron Hauck and Alia Green, Rachael and Liza Kubik, Jamie, Jared, Jenny, Jacob, Jesse, and Lucas Kubik, Amber Ziething, Tyler Pelton and Mikale Kubik; and five great-grandchildren.

In her earlier years, Agnes attended Dickinson State College and became a country school teacher near Manning. She was committed to excellence in education throughout her life and strongly encouraged this to her children. Active in her community, she was extremely hardworking and completely dedicated to the family farm & ranch. Agnes, with husband George, was instrumental in organizing the National Farmers Organization at the local and state levels. She also played an active role for many years in the N.D. State Wheat Commission. Agnes was a true humanitarian, a strong Roman Catholic, shared generously with all that knew her, and always promoted charity to those in need. She was local president of the American Cancer Society, board member of St. Josephs Catholic Church, and officer/volunteer for the Democratic Party, among her many roles and accomplishments.

Agnes contributed unconditional love and devotion to her family, always and to her final days. She was known for her quiet strength, elegant presence, and positive attitude. She loved to read, travel, and dance step with George. Agnes was a great cook for any size crowd. She was an excellent conversationalist with all ages, and a wonderful companion to anyone who sought her friendship and counsel.

Please join the family of Agnes Kubik in this final farewell to a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

     William was born on 11 July 1974 at Hennepin County, Minnesota, USA.¹ He married Danielle Marie Durenberger on 28 August 1999 at Minnesota, USA.²

     Alexander was born on 28 February 2008 at Timaru, South Canterbury, South Island, New Zealand. He is the son of Angus (Gus) Steele and Katie Louise Pierce.

     He became engaged to Katie Louise Pierce.

     Candy was born on 18 July 1941. She is the daughter of Jesse Fielding Steele Jr. and Jacqueline Cecelia Robinson.¹

     Gordon was born on 11 October 1952. He was the son of Jesse Fielding Steele Jr. and Jacqueline Cecelia Robinson.¹ Gordon died January 1991 at age 38.

     Greg Steele is the son of Wardell Steele and Margaret Marie Schmitt.

     Holly was born in January 1949. She is the daughter of Jesse Fielding Steele Jr. and Jacqueline Cecelia Robinson.¹
