The Lord Jesus came at 8:08 this morning, with the rays of sunshine
streaming through the window on her bed, and took Kathy home with him. She died comfortably and easy, and quickly, which is what we were praying for.

Bessie Pavilcek, 91, Dickinson, died Wednesday, August 6, 2003, at St. Luke’s Home, Dickinson. A Memorial Mass is 1 p.m., Saturday, August 9, 2003, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Dickinson, with Fr. Basil Atwell, OSB, celebrating. Inurnment will be in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, New Hradec. Visitation is Saturday at Price-Murphy Funeral Home from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. with a rosary being said at 11:30 a.m.

Bessie Barta was born March 6, 1912, to Vince and Christina (Kubik) Barta. When Bessie was two years old, her father died in a buggy accident. Her mother then married Joe F. Kadrmas. Bessie attended country school north of Dickinson. On July 15, 1930, she married Emil C. Pavlicek at Sts. Peter and Paul Church, New Hradec. Together they farmed north of Dickinson until they retired and moved into Dickinson. Bessie then worked at St. Luke’s Home for six years as a cook. Emil died in 1983. Bessie enjoyed cooking, gardening, flowers, coffee, bingo, playing cards and spending time with her grandchildren.

Bessie is survived by: one daughter, Betty (Ben) Svihl, Dickinson; one son, Larry (Gayle) Pavlicek, Dickinson; 11 grandchildren, Gaylene (Don) Schulz, Dickinson, Dennis (Marla) Svihl, Dickinson, Randy Svihl, Bismarck, Greg (Bobbie) Svihl, Trenton, N.D., Rocky (Genie) Svihl, Dickinson, Kelly Svihl, Tonapah, Nev., Kay Haag, Dickinson, Tammy (Jamie) Jalbert, Dickinson, Tara Pavlicek, Minneapolis, Minn., Brandi Pavlicek, Rochester, Minn. and Preston Pavlicek, Dickinson; 23 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Lillian Leiss, Dickinson and Alice (Jerome) Herauf, Van Nuys, Calif; three brothers, Henry (Vi) Kadrmas, Dickinson, Bob (Angie) Kadrmas, Dickinson and Joe (Donna) Kadrmas, St. Coix, Wis. She was preceded in death by: her mother, Christina Kadrmas; father, Vince Barta; stepfather, Joe F. Kadrmas; two brothers, Vince Barta and Ludwig Kadrmas; husband, Emil C. Pavlicek; two sons, Gary and Eugene Pavlicek.

     Denise was born on 30 April 1972 at Toledo, Lucas County, Ohio, USA. She is the daughter of James Otto Barta and Kathy Swehla.

     Dorothy was born on 22 September 1925 at Dickinson, Stark County, North Dakota, USA. She was the daughter of Alexander (Alex) Barta and Rosalia (Rose) Kubik. Dorothy Dolores Barta married George Keller on 26 August 1941. Dorothy died 15 October 2002 at Dickinson, Stark County, North Dakota, USA, at age 77.

     Elinor was born on 14 September 1910 at family farm, Dunn County, North Dakota, USA.¹ She was the daughter of Alexander (Alex) Barta and Rosalia (Rose) Kubik. She married Clement Louis Ficek on 9 October 1933 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Dickinson, Stark County, North Dakota, USA. Elinor died 26 November 2008 at Stark County, North Dakota, USA, at age 98.¹

     George was born on 22 February 1922 at Dickinson, Stark County, North Dakota, USA. He was the son of Alexander (Alex) Barta and Rosalia (Rose) Kubik. He married Anna Louise Sebastian on 22 April 1946 at Army Chapel, Menlo Park, California, USA. George died 28 June 1985 at Ann Arbor, Washtenaw County, Michigan, USA, at age 63.

She married Henry Andrew Svihl on 22 September 1934 at Dickinson, Stark County, North Dakota, USA. She married (Unknown Given Name) Bryan on 14 July 1990. Hattie died 12 November 2000 at Adrian, Lenawee County, Michigan, USA, at age 86.

     James was born on 21 November 1939 at Dickinson, Stark County, North Dakota, USA. He is the son of Otto L. Barta and Emma Hoeffer. He married Kathy Swehla on 2 February 1963 at Ida, Monroe County, Michigan, USA.
