Solicitor's Body Found In Murray

A search for an Echuca solicitor, Sydney Samuel Mitchell, 47, who had been missing since Wednesday of last week, ended yesterday when his body was found floating against a snag in the Murray.

The body, which was fully clothed, including an overcoat, was 100 yards downstream from the spot where his empty car was found a week
ago.

As the Murray River is under the jurisdiction of New South Wales, Moama police took charge of the body and will arrange an inquiry. Mitchell is survived by a widow, a son aged 20, and a daughter aged 18, and another daughter at school. He was a past president of the Agricultural Society and the Bowling Club, and also a member of the hospital board of management.
