Funeral Mass for Frances Fisher, 96, of Dickinson, ND will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, February 18, 2009 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church with Father James Braaten officiating. Burial will be in the St. Wenceslaus Cemetery.

Visitation will be 1 p.m. - 9 p.m., Tuesday, February 17, 2009 at Stevenson Funeral Home with a vigil and prayer service at 7 p.m.

Frances passed away Monday February 16, 2009 at St. Joseph Hospital Dickinson, ND.

Frances Kubas was born December 3, 1912 to Louis and Anne (Ridl) Kubas on the family farm. She grew up and attended the local country school. Frances worked along side her father helping with chores and field work even after she finished her school. On June 12, 1933, Frances married Adolph Fisher at Sts Peter and Paul Catholic Church in New Hradec, ND. The couple made their home on the family farm four miles southeast of South Heart, ND and it was here they raised their family. Frances and Adolph moved to Dickinson in 1962. During this time, Frances worked in housekeeping at Dickinson State College, as well as for several families around Dickinson. Frances enjoyed crocheting, playing cards and Bingo. She also enjoyed baking, especially making Kolaches. Another pastime of Frances’ was watching basketball on TV especially the Lakers. Above all, Frances loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church and St. Ann’s Altar Society

She is survived by daughters, Margaret Marczuk, Little Rock, AR and Eileen (Christ) Dukart, South Heart, ND; son, Ron (Florence) Fisher, Tuscon, AZ; 15 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren.

Frances is preceded in death by both parents; husband, Adolph; an infant son; grandson, Duane Dukart; son-in-law, Louis Marczuk; brother, Joe Kubas; sisters, Emma Ficek and Lillian Pavlish; brothers-in-law, Frank Pavlish, Adolph Ficek and Tony Wolf; sister-in-law, Barbara Kubas.

     Agnes was born in 1887 at Czechohrad, Crimea, Ukraine, Russia. She was the daughter of Johann (John) Kubik and Anna Privratsky. Agnes died 1963.
     Agnes immigrated to America on 14 November 1898. The entire family arrived on the S.S. Pretoria sailing from Hamburg, Germany on 1 November 1899. An entire group, at least 11 families from the same village, Czechorad, Russia all emmigrated together on this ship and all can be seen on the passenger list. They were all bound for Dickinson, North Dakota..
