Published Friday, March 30, 2007

Agnes H. (Mrs. Joe W.) Kostelecky, 93, Dickinson, died Wednesday, March 28, 2007, at St. Benedict's Health Center, Dickinson.

A Mass of Christian burial for Agnes is at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 31, 2007, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Dickinson, with the Rev. Austin Vetter as the celebrant. Interment is in St. Wenceslaus Cemetery, Dickinson.

Visitation is from 1-9 p.m. today at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson, with a rosary and vigil at 7 p.m. with Deacon Ralph Stockert presiding.
Agnes H. Lisko was born on Jan. 21, 1914, to Anton and Mary (Fisher) Lisko in Dickinson. She was educated in the Dickinson schools and worked for some time at Scheeler?s Hardware and Grocery in south Dickinson in her younger years.

Agnes married Joe W. Kostelecky on June 19, 1933, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Dickinson, and they were blessed with 54 years of marriage. Joe went to his eternal father on June 22, 1987.

Agnes was a jail matron for the Stark County Jail from 1949 to 1954, assisting her husband, who at the time was the sheriff of Stark County.
She was a long standing, loyal and faithful member of the Catholic Daughters of America, St. Patrick's Church and school and a charter member of The Ministry of Praise.

Agnes lived a very full and active life. Her priorities were her family, church and prayer, and she made absolutely certain that persons that stopped in to visit were treated with home style hospitality and had enough to eat. Usually a spirited game of cards followed. She loved the card game of bridge, especially the bid of "no trump" and often winning high point in her later years with players a generation or two younger.

Agnes is survived by her four children, Donald J. (Lucy) Kostelecky, Dickinson, Jolyn McCue, Billings, Mont., Judy (Terry) Hager, Grand Forks, and Geri Glazer, Louisville, Colo; two sisters, Anne (Orville) Narum and Mary (Ernest) Bailey, both of Dickinson; brother, George Lisko, Dickinson; two sisters-in-law, Clara Lisko, Bismarck, and Bertha Lisko, Dickinson; 12 grandchildren, Shannon, Michael, Deborah (Steve), Ken (Cheryl), Cathe (Ron), Deidra (Dean), Dan (Penny), Tim, Lisa, Mark, Amy Jo, Laura, Ryan (Tiffany), Mariah, Jordan and Dylan; and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Isadore, Ted, Adolph, Anton and Edwin; sisters, Mildred and Philomine; an infant daughter, Margaret Ann; and son, Gerald. (Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson.)

Burial31 March 2007She was buried on 31 March 2007 in Saint Wenceslaus Cemetery at Dickinson, Stark, North Dakota.

ObituaryDecember 1897Obituary of Walter Ross Lloyd

Died – In Whiteside township, Beadle county, South Dakota on Thursday morning December 2, 1897, Walter R. Lloyd of congestion of the lungs and heart failure, aged 36 years, 4 months and 24 days.

Walter R. Lloyd was born in Dawn Mills, Canada, July 8th 1861, and resided there until he was about 7 years old, when with his parents he moved to Atkinson, Ill., where the family resided until 1882, when they came to Dakota and located in Whiteside township. In 1890, his parents, brothers and sisters returned to Illinois, leaving him as the only one of the family to remain here. At the age of 17 he joined the M.E. church and soon thereafter prepared to take a course in the theological school at Evanston, Ill., but his eyesight failing, he was obliged to abandon his studies, and came to Dakota and engaged in farming.

In February 1886 Wessington lodge A.O.U.W. was organized and he became a charter member, remaining in good standing to the date of his death. On several occasions he was elected to prominent offices in the lodge, which he filled with honor to himself and credit to the lodge. On March 23rd 1893 he was made a Master Mason in Wessington lodge and enjoyed the high esteem of the entire fraternity.

On September 19 1888 he was married to Miss Carrie Dake, and their union was blessed with four children, two boys and two girls: who with his wife, father and mother, three brothers and three sisters are left to mourn his loss. During the years he has resided in Whiteside township his fellow townsmen have repeatedly honored him with several township offices which he filled with credit to himself and to the entire satisfaction of the people. He was a kind, faithful, loving husband and father and had the respect of all who knew him.

The funeral services were held in the M.E. church Saturday afternoon, Dec. 4 at one o’clock, conducted by Rev. S.F. McGuire, pastor, who preached a beautiful sermon, teaching upon the life of deceased from childhood up, after which the remains were turned over to the A.O.U.W. lodge who conducted them to the cemetery where the burial services of the order were rendered and the remains consigned to mother earth.
