Heather Johnson and Christopher Burchett, opera singers in New York, are to be married today in Round Pond, Me. Dona D. Vaughn of Rose Ministries is to officiate at the Little Brown Church.

The bride, 34, a mezzo-soprano, appeared this month with the New York Choral Society at Carnegie Hall. She appeared last season as Mercedes in "Carmen" with the New York City Opera, and is scheduled to appear in the fall as Lucienne in the company's production of "Die Tote Stadt." The bridegroom, 31, a baritone, will appear in "Jenufa" and "The Greater Good" at the Glimmerglass Opera, the summer opera festival in Cooperstown, N.Y., where the bride and bridegroom met.

The bride graduated from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minn., and received a master's in music from the Manhattan School of Music. She is the daughter of Karen Johnson and Joel Johnson of White Bear Lake, Minn. Her parents retired as music teachers in Roseville, Minn., her father at Roseville Area High School and her mother at Central Park Elementary School. The bride's father is the chorus director for the New Hampshire Music Festival.

The bridegroom, also 34, graduated from the University of Louisville. He is a son of Ruth Burchett of Mount Sterling, Ky., and Ronald Burchett of Pikeville, Ky. The bridegroom's mother is a real estate appraiser in Mount Sterling. His father is a prosecutor for the state in Pikeville.

The bridegroom's previous marriage ended in divorce.
